Quite inconceivably tiny, occasionally a goldcrest flashes along the old brick garden wall, flitting into yew buttresses for cover.
Here, a goldcrest is imagined in a London Fields Scotch Pine. Hackney has been graced by amazing tree planting over recent years, including stands of conifers.
The goldcrest's song is a high ululation, almost at the edge of hearing. This diminuitive bird is a nigh on magical apparition - a sighting is always a blessing.
